INITIATIVES
GLOBAL CLUB
GLOBAL CLUB
Global Club was first developed in 1994, in response to a perceived need for more initiatives for young people focussed on developing and strengthening relationships between Australia’s diverse communities.
The purposes of Global Club are:
- To build friendships based on trust that go beyond the boundaries of community, culture and religion. It seeks to break down barriers that prevent this happening, including the ‘comfort zone’ of remaining within the group that speaks the same native tongue and has similar thought-patterns.
- To encourage Australians of all backgrounds to develop a strong sense of concern about world issues and to find ways of responding to these through changes of attitude and practical action.
The schedule for the club includes recreational activities, sports, musical entertainment and celebrations of events important to different national groups. Speakers on subjects of particular interest are invited and discussions/workshops on topical issues held.
Global Club meets bi-monthly.
